The Power of Education

When kids are empowered with the right tools, they thrive. As the year draws to a close and we continue to work with our partners to develop new projects, we’re also taking a moment to look back at some of the work our generous donors have allowed us to do this year.

Our micro-grant project, born from the results of surveys of the Afghan refugee community in collaboration with its members, funded a three-month educational summer camp for 60 Afghan children in Pakistan.

Projects like this summer school are so valuable because they open the door to wider opportunities. Six of the children who participated in the school received scholarships to a prestigious private school after their exceptional performance at summer camp. One of our volunteer teachers from within the Afghan refugee community was hired full-time by the same private school.
