What is Cash-for-Work?

Cash-for-Work is a short term intervention to provide temporary employment to public projects to the most vulnerable segments of the population. The projects incentivize individuals to improve their own communities from within.

Cash-for-Work has 3 fundamental objectives:

  • To generate Income

  • To stimulate local economies

  • To improve quality of life by building or rehabilitating public assets & infrastructure

There is evidence that implementing cash-for-work projects during transitional periods can:

  • Prevent economic migration

  • Increase resilience to crisis

  • Improve social cohesion
