What is Cash-for-Work?
Cash-for-Work is a short term intervention to provide temporary employment to public projects to the most vulnerable segments of the population. The projects incentivize individuals to improve their own communities from within.
Cash-for-Work has 3 fundamental objectives:
To generate Income
To stimulate local economies
To improve quality of life by building or rehabilitating public assets & infrastructure
There is evidence that implementing cash-for-work projects during transitional periods can:
Prevent economic migration
Increase resilience to crisis
Improve social cohesion
