A More Sustainable Afghanistan Starts With Us

Happy Earth Day! Today is a reminder of how necessary it is for us to be mindful of how our actions impact our earth, and the importance of working together to protect it.

In Afghanistan, much of the country’s diverse natural landscape has been impacted and destroyed by decades of war. By protecting waterways and farmlands, we protect the people who survive through these resources while preventing their exploitation by decreasing dependence on external sources.

Projects like Uplift’s and CDDO’s Cash-for-Work program employ local Afghan community members to install water irrigation systems—improving the state of the environment while providing a consistent source of clean drinking water to the community.

Uplift’s Environmental Protection and Sustainability Fund supports organizations working toward the restoration and protection of Afghanistan’s natural habitats and species. Our goal is to revitalize Afghanistan’s agricultural lands in ecologically responsible ways that alleviate the consequences of climate change, such as climate migration.

Let’s work together to build a more sustainable Afghanistan.
