In The Face of Adversity, Uplift Remains Committed To Afghan People

Despite the recent events in Afghanistan—the ban on women’s university education and the denial of women’s participation in local and international NGOs—Uplift remains committed to our goals and the people we serve.

Our commitment is, first and foremost, to the Afghan people, and our dedication to our people is unwavering.

We exist to help the Afghan people because governments have failed them. The failure of the government to reflect and meet the needs of its citizenry is not new. It’s not new to Afghanistan, and it’s not new to people in any nation on Earth.

As human beings, we have a duty to look out for the rights and welfare of one another.

At Uplift, we’re a people-to-people organization. In that vein, we will continue to serve the men, women, and children of Afghanistan. We will continue to focus our efforts on the most marginalized—female-headed households, children, the elderly, the disabled, and ethnic/religious minorities.

Given the political climate, we and our partners must be creative about how we deliver our services and resources. We hope you will stand with us and your fellow human beings by not forgetting their struggle.

These recent events will not deter us from uplifting the Afghan people. We remain committed to our goals and the people we serve in the face of adversity.

The Uplift team thanks you for standing with your fellow humans in this time of vulnerability. Only together can we work toward building a sustainable and equitable future for Afghans.
