Advocating For Afghan Girls on International Day of Education

Education is a human right.

On International Day of Education, we urge our friends around the world to remember the plight of Afghan girls and join us in advocating for their basic right to education.

Afghanistan is currently the only country in the world to ban girls from education past the 6th grade. Our mission at Uplift is to move toward a sustainable and equitable Afghanistan. Ensuring access to education is an essential step toward empowering Afghans and achieving this goal.

With the help of our generous donors and partner organizations, we’ve already been able to provide education to numerous Afghans. In Pakistan, our summer camp and schools for Afghan refugee children have provided a place to learn, socialize, and thrive despite the upheaval they’ve experienced. In Afghanistan, we’re supporting community-based education in small cluster groups taught by Afghan women. Through our micro-grant program, we are developing vocational training programs that make it possible for women to gain financial independence.

In 2023, we are continuing these projects while working with our partners on the ground to develop other educational and vocational training programs.

Everyone deserves access to education. If you are able, please consider standing with Afghans on this International Day of Education by clicking here to contribute to Uplift’s Education Fund.

Donating to this fund supports direct instruction to children, teacher training and salaries, curriculum development, school building, and collaborative educational partnerships between local school children and their peers around the globe.
